Our WWII Marines: Derald D. Fisher

Company C, 1st Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment
Muster Roll Personal History
Private Derald D. Fisher

The following is the entire history of Derald D. Fisher, in Company C, 1st Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, for 4 days. It is an example of the futility of war. No veteran of C-1-23 remembers who he was, nor what platoon or squad he was with, nor has any memory of his looks or person. He died with us.

Muster of July 1944

  1. 28 July 1944 - Joined from 2nd Marine Div. FMF. PAC.
  2. 28 to 30 July 1944 - Participated in the Battle of Tinian, Marianas Islands.
  3. 31 July 1944 - KIA against an organized enemy of the U.S. on Tinian, Marianas Islands.
  4. 01 August 1944, remains interred in the 4th Marine Division Cemetery on Tinian, Marianas Islands plot #3, row #1, grave #207. Char: Exc. Go 20 does not apply.

May God have mercy on his spirit and on all his family which are also unknown to us!
