Harry was originally assigned to D Company, 1st Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment of the Fourth Marine Division but during the reorganization either before or shortly after our first invasion of Roi Island in the Marshall Islands early in 1944. Throughout the remaining scheduled campaigns, Harry was a proud member of C Company - C123rd.

Hansen, Harry C. age 89, of Golden Valley, went to be with the Lord on 8/23/10. Preceded in death by parents, Hans Peter and Anna Hansen; brothers, James, Arthur and Ray. Survived by wife of 65 years, Bev; children, Julie (Sue) Fredlund, Gary, Larry (Carrie), Sue (Jerry) Bahe, Danny (Lynda) and Peggy (Tim) Johnson; 19 grandchildren; 17 great- grandchildren; and sister, Myrtle Whipps.
Harry served in the Marine Corps in WWII. During the Battles of Marshall Islands, Saipan, Tinian and Iwo Jima, he was wounded twice and received two Purple Hearts.
Memorials preferred to Calvary Cooperative.
Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorial service Thursday 11:00 A.M., with visitation one hour prior at Calvary Lutheran Church, 7520 Golden Valley Rd., Golden Valley. Washburn-McReavy Glen Haven Chapel 763-533-8643
