Obituary

George Loren Anderson, age 91, lifelong resident of Duluth, passed away peacefully at home Friday, March 12, 2010.

He was born July 30, 1918, in Duluth to Gotfried and Christine Anderson. George was a 1937 graduate of Denfeld High School. He served with the United States Marine Corp during WWII and was a Purple Heart recipient. On June 15, 1946, George married Helen Elizabeth Brune and together they raised nine children. He was a retired meat cutter and had been a member of their union. George enjoyed fishing and gardening. He obtained his private pilot license after he retired.

George was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Charlotte Naylor and y Johnson; and a daughter, Kim Niemi.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Helen; eight children, Linda (Jack) Baker, Loren (Kathy), Roy (Jean) Alan (Pam Wesley), Don (Kandy), Larry, Chris (Juanita), and Gary; 22 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a very special sister-in-law, Aunty Bea Brune; son-in-law, Errol Niemi; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service: 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, in the Lutheran Church of Christ the King, 4219 Grand Ave. Entombment will be at Sunrise Memorial Park. Memorials are preferred. Arrangements by Bell Brothers Funeral Home, 601 N. 56th Ave. West.
